Electricity Demand Pattern and Supply Availability On Nigeria Grid System

This paper presents the analysis of electricity transmitted and demand on Nigeria's grid system from year 2018 to 2020 give present progress in Nigeria. The daily generated data, distribution companies (DISCOs) consumption data transmission lines connected other neighbouring countries (international lines) within were used for analysis. Also, extrapolation monthly energy each obtained was computed. done graphs results showed that average day-ahead by DISCOs varied majorly between 3.5GW 4GW with a corresponding increase above total 80GW 90GW 2020. But despite this demand, study did not at any time pick up their declared load being major stakeholder delivery consumers. some generating station units capacity due fault gas constraints stations without using free governor mode (control required respond state real-time). recommends government should ensure proper monitoring impose necessary sanctions if needs be stakeholders participants who violate Nigeria Electricity Supply Market Rules effective code created efficient power delivery. should, as matter urgency, start expansion her well developing new ones considering sources generation such wind solar which are predominately abundant northern part country.
